Hi Film Folk,
As many of you probably know by now, I’ve launched a filmmaking membership site called “The Production Posse”.
Why? Well, I remember when I started out in film, and even when I made my first feature, there simply wasn’t a network of similar minded filmmakers I could reach out to, tools I could use and learning resources to absorb.
These days, the internet is absolutely saturated with “how to guides”, “kit reviews” and “video workshops”. Much of this content is free, but that typically comes at a cost of adverts, spam or quality. In addition, I can find out how to do a camera technique or edit effect on YouTube, but where is the in-depth information on writing, directing actors and any number of less obvious core concepts? Where can I go to seriously debate and ask other filmmakers about filmmaking? Social media is great, but yeah, it’s full of trolls and timewasters, would I really want to collaborate with some unknown entity I’ve met in a Facebook forum?
The Production Posse offers a safe, reliable and high quality membership site for all levels of filmmaking. It’s an exclusive club, meaning that trolls, spammers and timewasters aren’t welcome. We motivate, educate, inspire and bring together film creatives.
As well as filmmaking resources, tools, features and forums, one of the major reasons to be a member is our masterclasses. Every month we release two masterclasses from established industry experts. These might be writers, directors, producers, sound designers, visual effects experts… any role at all. These experts explain in detail their thoughts on filmmaking, their department and what indie filmmakers can and should be doing with their productions.
I’ve become quite a chatterbox, and while I’m not exactly Jay Leno… it’s really educating doing this job.
As the founder of the Production Posse, I can’t tell you what a thrill it is to talk to these experts. I’m learning all sorts of amazing, in depth filmmaking knowledge (you can too, it’s all in the site). Guests so far have performed key roles on productions such as: The Revenant, War of the Worlds, Spiderman Homecoming, Dr Who, The Circle, Requiem for a Dream, Ghost in the Shell, The Perfect Weapon, Sniper Special Ops, Iron Man, The Asian Connection, Lost in Time, Django Unchained, Batman Begins, The Osbournes, Power Rangers, Dunkirk, The Medallion, American Beauty, The Gunrunner and many, many more… These really are experts in the industry.
The site isn’t free. Because we refuse to fill it with adverts, spam and don’t sell member’s details, we rely on membership fees to operate as a business. The content is of such a high quality that I’m not prepared to release it freely and make a quick buck through dodgy means. We’re a proper company committed to making a real difference for filmmakers.
That said, we are still in the process of launching (at the time of writing this blog) and there are limited beta-user places still available. This is essentially free membership to the Production Posse.
If you think you’d be interested in joining the ultimate filmmaking membership site, then get in touch with me here. You can find out more about the Production Posse here.
Thanks for reading,
Andy Wilton
P.S.
The Avengers have hit the UK… They’re currently filming part of “Avengers: Infinity War” in Durham, near me. My good friend Alan Hagar has been along to have a bit of a snoop and he’s reported back that it’s a huge production and looks really exciting… Durham Cathedral, where they’re filming, is an incredible location and I can’t wait to see it in the finished film. 🙂

I was lucky enough to finally catch “Get Out” at the cinema yesterday. Not a perfect film, but I loved how original it was and I couldn’t see where it was going. Great stuff.
